McGill, Larry Doss Larry Doss McGill of Deport died June 3, 201 in Houston. He was born in Clardy, Texas on July 17, 1938. He was theson of Patrick Henry McGill and Sammie Ann (Short) McGill. His parents preceded him in death in 1961 and 1973 respectively. He graduated from Deport High School in 1956. He was an accountant for Texaco, Inc in Dallas from 1956 until 1962. He graduated from PJC in 1964 and Texas A&M Commerce in 1966. He joined the Army Reserve in 1960 and spent six months on active duty at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He remained in the Army Reserves for six years and received an honorable discharge in 1966. He received his CPA in 1974. Larry went to work for the Internal Revenue Service in Dallas in 1966 as an agent and retired from IRS in 1998. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church in Sachse and was a mason. He is survived by a daughter, Toshia Guthrie and husband Todd of Houston; sisters Joyce Pennington and husband Bill of Houston; Patsy Hulett of Lubbock; and Virginia Damron of Garland; brothers, Gaylon and wife Maxine of Daingerfield and David and wife, Darlene of Mesquite. Also special friends John Anderson, Buford Gamblin, and Glenn Whitsell. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Juanita, Clara Joy and Wanda Cavender and a brother, Delbert Glen, who was killed in the Philippines in WWII. Services will be held at Wood Funeral Homes Chapel in Deport on Monday, June 6 at 2:00pm with The Reverend Dan Gilliam and Lay Speaker, Marcy McGill officiating Interment to follow at Highland Cemetery in Deport.
