Hallie Pennington Welch ATKINS, Va. Hallie Pennington Welch, age 92, widow of Frank R. Welch, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at her home in Atkins. In 1984, Mrs. Welch was The Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star in New Orleans and in 1997 she was The Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 72 in Marion, Va. She was a member of the Atkins First Church of God where she sang in the choir for many years. She is survived by one son, William R. Pennington Sr. of Laurel, Md.; two grandsons, Randall Pennington of Atkins and Frank Pennington of Winchester, Md.; two great-grandsons, Troy and Devon Pennington; and one great-granddaughter, Carissa Pennington. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Atkins First Church of God with the Rev. Nouhad Melki officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the Atkins First Church of God. An Eastern Star, Marion Chapter No. 72 Order memorial service will follow the visitation.
